FAQs

Why are you so cheap?

We call it best value!

That's our ethos within the Just About Weddings Group, and although we're constantly told we should put our prices up, we resist the temptation. We're often described now as one of the leading, cutting edge photography and videography companies, producing incredible photos and films. But despite that, we believe in making that standard of art available to as many people as possible. So prices will always be lower than the market rate for what we provide.

Surely we'd get better pictures & videos if we looked at higher priced photographers or videographers?

Absolute garbage! Let us assure you that there is no correlation whatsoever between price and quality, and even less so between price and service!

The real truth, which the industry hates us for telling people, is that wedding photographers and videographers have been putting their prices up hugely for a number of years, simply because they can. Demand has been such that they can now do fewer weddings but earn much more from each. This has absolutely no bearing on the quality of their work, but, sadly, more to do with the view that if people are willing to pay the money, they can simply work less.

So why should we choose Just About Weddings for our photos?

Our best bit of advice is to check out the galleries.

If you love our photo style, then choose us. If you don't, choose someone else. Don't pick based on price or how friendly (or not) the photographer is on a call or how quick you're responded to - all things to take into consideration - but when all is said and done, it's the photos that will remain with you for ever. So love the style!

Ok, so how would you describe your photo style?

We are absolutely passionate about providing photos that capture the visceral feeling of the moment.

If the majority of the photos don't jump off the page and draw you into the energy of the moment, or of the day, then either you're not looking at a Just About Weddings gallery, or we've failed! We tend not to pose people, preferring candid, as they happen, moments. The pictures come alive and no one has to stare at a camera straining to make that fake smile. We want the real smiles; the laughs; the dancing; the joking; the joy; the romance; the energy. That's our passion!

We've seen some incredible shots with smoke, fire and other stuff. Do you charge more to bring those things?

Nope - we spend our time, when we're not shooting, coming up with crazy ideas to create cutting edge wedding photos, and once we've practiced them and mastered them, so it doesn't take any time to set up, we then bring the props along, and if the couple are up for it, we'll get a few out and have a play! So you might find yourself kissing in fog, running around with coloured smoke grenades, holding mirrors, or even playing with fire! The whole point of these ideas, though, is to create that absolute centrepiece ‘living room wall' picture - one that everyone who comes round, just can't stop looking at!

Should we bother with film? Is it just a 'nice to have'?

Well that's entirely your call.

There are some things, though, that a photo simply can't reproduce. Making your vows, the speeches, hearing your parent's or grandparent's voice for all time, the flow of the dress, the intimacy of the first dance - the list is endless. There are many people who we hear regret not having their day captured in film, even when they love their photos.

So what do we get if we take a film package from you?

We always provide two films.

The highlights film is between around three and five minutes, and condenses your day into a film you'll want to watch over and over. We very carefully select the music that best fits the essence of your day, and that sets the tone of the film. We then trawl through all the hours and hours of coverage, and piece together the greatest moments, allowing you to re-live the day in the short film. The music is always royalty-free so you can post the film on your socials without fear of licensing laws. The second film is the full film. We're very focussed on delivering something you'll want to watch again and again, and so don't ever intend on giving you a film of an hour plus in length. We just don't believe that longer equals better. In fact, quite the reverse. Longer generally means boring, and we don't ever want to produce something like that!

What advice do you give about how to choose the right videographer?

The first thing we'd say is to get your photography and videography from one provider.

If you get separate, they are forever trying to get the best angles, the best shots, the best positions, which means they inevitably get in each other's way. Not great! You're often told not to worry ‘we work together a lot'. Yes, but not every day like you get with a photography and videography team from one business. The second thing we'd say is watch a few highlights films. Our experience is that there are a huge amount of ‘vanilla' films - perfectly ok, but so samey. Go for someone that produces films that ‘live and breathe' when you watch them. Ultimately, if you're going to spend a chunk of your budget on a filmmaker, then make sure it's a filmmaker who produces films you love the feel of.

We've seen some drone footage on your films. Do we pay extra for a drone?

Absolutely not!

Derek The Drone comes with us as standard, and as long as the weather is ok and the venue are happy, then we love to get him up.
